Tattoo studio management, for a shop with more than one artist

A shop needs to coordinate several calendars, assign inquiries and manage shared client records. Work out who handles those jobs before choosing software.

Each artist still needs reference photos, deposit terms, consent forms and client records. In a studio, someone also needs to see who is available, assign inquiries to an artist and keep track of what is owed to the shop. Those shared tasks are worth checking separately from the booking calendar.

The jobs a studio adds on top of solo booking

  • A front desk or manager view that sees every artist's calendar and availability, not just their own.
  • Walk-ins and shop-wide inquiries that need routing to whichever artist actually fits the request, rather than landing on one person by default.
  • A shared client record when the same customer has been tattooed by two different artists at the shop over the years.
  • Commission or chair-rent splits, and reporting on what each artist brought in over a period.
  • A single public presence for the shop, alongside each artist's own page and portfolio.

What to decide before picking software

Decide whether clients should contact individual artists or send requests to the shop for someone to assign. Then decide whether the software needs to track artist and shop shares, or whether you already handle that in your accounts.

Individual pages can work well when resident artists already have their own clients. If most inquiries come to the shop without a particular artist in mind, a shared inbox and someone responsible for assigning them may be more useful.

The parts that do not change with headcount

  • Every request still needs reference images and the same handful of questions asked once, whichever artist ends up with it.
  • A deposit policy still has to be clear and consistent, or different artists in the same shop end up enforcing different rules on the same client.
  • Use a consistent process for collecting and storing consent forms for each client and session.

Where tats.to fits today

Each artist can use their own tats.to account, page, calendar and client records today, and a shared Studio account is available by consultation at $199 a month: one shop page with a roster of up to 10 listed artists, each linking through to their own booking page. What Studio does not add yet is a manager view across every artist's calendar, commission or chair-rent tracking, or shop-wide routing of an inquiry to whichever artist has space. Book a consultation to see whether the shop page alone is worth it before you move everyone over.

Artists can already use the same process for requests and deposits in their separate accounts. Every plan includes a portfolio page, reminders and exports. Custom consent forms and e-signatures start on Starter.

Questions

Can several artists at one shop each use tats.to today?

Yes. Each artist signs up and runs their own account, page, calendar and client book independently. What is missing is a single manager view across all of them.

Is there a shop-wide plan on tats.to?

Yes. Studio is a shared shop page for up to 10 listed artists on one $199-a-month bill. It is approved by consultation rather than instant checkout, so contact us to discuss your shop first.

Does tats.to track commission splits between the shop and an artist?

Not today. Each artist's bookings and deposits are theirs alone in the product; splitting revenue with the shop is handled outside tats.to. Studio adds a shared shop page, not commission tracking.

Can a walk-in be routed to whichever artist has space?

Not automatically. A request lands on the artist whose page it was sent to. Shop-wide routing across artists is not part of Studio today.
